Purpose and Objective
This position is the key point of contact for Spanish and California-based media inquiries and proactively seeks out media opportunities with a particular focus on education in order to strengthen ClearPoint's brand identity and enhance other marketing efforts (building word of mouth). The Media Relations Specialist serves as a source of background information on all aspects of counseling offered by ClearPoint, and creates opportunities to profile the CEO, Regional President, former ClearPoint clients, Area Directors and Financial Specialists. The position is also responsible for Spanish translations of ClearPoint collateral, education and online content, and supports the delivery of presentations and workshops to the general public and to staff.
Essential Job Functions
Under the leadership of the Media Relations Coordinator, pitches ClearPoint's strategic, education-focused messages to targeted regional media and searches proactively for opportunities to promote the CEO, Regional President, Financial Specialists and former clients.
Acts as the initial point of contact for all Spanish media enquiries, and those originating in California, responding promptly and positively.
Develops and maintains relationships with Spanish and California-based media contacts.
Provides background detail on all aspects of credit and housing counseling externally and internally, including talking points, topical articles and informational resources.
Regularly submits record of all media and presentation activity to the Media Relations Coordinator as each ClearPoint media and presentation event is published or broadcast or delivered.
Coordinates and participates in press conferences, phone banks, and education outreach events.
Seeks out opportunities to deliver ClearPoint's educational messages with a focus on enhancing word of mouth marketing efforts, and generates leads to potential strategic partnerships (including web links).
Provides Spanish translation and editing services as needed.
Actively pursues opportunities for the funding, promotion and delivery of ClearPoint's educational programs.
Sound judgment, and regular, dependable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Credit and housing counseling experience.
Thorough understanding of all aspects of the credit industry.
Experience working with lenders preferred.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Media relations experience with a comprehension of the fundamentals involved in working with the media.
Strong understanding of the factors contributing to financial distress, and how ClearPoint's counseling services address them.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Bilingual Spanish required.
Ability to work under stress and to tight deadlines. Calm and cool under pressure.
Ability to appear comfortable in any media interview setting in a professional and knowledgeable manner that effectively communicates ClearPoint's mission.
Strong computer and Internet skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database programs.
Customer oriented with a strong mission focus.
Ability to travel as required and a reliable source of transportation.
Creative, independent thinker and problem solver. Detail oriented, organized, energizing team player.
