Title:Financial Specialist (Consumer Credit Counselor)

Purpose and Objective

Provide educational financial counseling to clients by determining their specific financial condition and providing appropriate solutions and/or referrals to assist in the resolution of the problem now and in the future.

Essential Job Functions

Receive and handle client contacts (may be in person, telephone, or internet) seeking financial education/guidance
Conduct thorough and appropriate solutions focused counseling sessions; sessions may be conducted specific to credit counseling, housing or bankruptcy.
Make appropriate financial recommendations specific to the client's needs
Make appropriate referrals that are specific to the client's needs
Ability to educate consumers regarding financial options and convey the benefits of the recommendations provided
Accurately document client information into operating systems
Actively follow up on clients to assure that recommendations, options, etc. have been investigated and all questions addressed
Work closely with Reports Specialists and Client Service Representatives to assure that client base is adequately serviced
Handle client concerns without delay, assuring full resolution
Perform outreach/educational presentations on a monthly basis
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills
Acquire NFCC Certification Books 1-7 within 6 months of hire date
Previous experience in a financial environment or a degree in finance
Ability to adhere to schedule compliance
Flexible with scheduling changes
Strong team player
Ability to work without direct supervision
